Academic Divisions of the Chinese Academy of Sciences seminar, 2021
The Academic Divisions of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CASAD) organised a seminar in September 2021, with COPE invited to present on the trends and issues in publication ethics.
The integrity of peer-reviewed literature is important in retaining public confidence in scholarship. Trust is a key component of peer-review, and it is incumbent on editors and reviewers to ensure that the review process is transparent, and reviews are done ethically. It is also important that we are prepared to correct the literature promptly with clear statements to retain the trust of the readership. In this presentation, Dan Kulp, COPE Chair, introduces COPE and details its role in this ecosystem, and also discusses some current issues in publication ethics and COPE is working with other organisations to find industry-wide solutions.
Read an interview-style article with Dan Kulp in a themed section of CASAD's official journal Science Bulletin: Chinese language edition, the 3rd issue 2022.
